A Time For Action

Over the last few months I realized something about myself, I was on cruise control. My life was working overall. I have a good job, a couple sons to keep up with, a loving wife, comfy home, etc. I had gotten comfortable and quit trying to be better. To steal a word from someone I deeply admire, I was in the drift. Mindlessly going day by day, week by week, year by year.

Then something changed. I was confronted with the reality that I was failing myself, my family, and the big guy upstairs. I wasn’t giving my all to anything.  Yes I went to work every day, and did a great job.  I brought my kids to their activities and was at every school function I could possibly make work. The problem was I was only going through the motions and not giving it my all. I realized I didn’t have a relationship with God. I physically attended church, but I had walls built around my heart due to past circumstances.

All of these things were brought to my attention because I attended an event, that I wanted nothing to do with, to support my wife. That weekend transformed me into a whole new person. Sometimes God will use times like that to set you straight, open your eyes and give you a swift kick in the pants that you so desperately needed, but had no idea you needed.

My hope for you is to know the following truths about yourself:

  1. You are loved by God no matter what.

  2. You have a purpose in this world.

  3. You have the authority to control your emotions and actions no matter the circumstances you find yourself in.

  4. You should never stop striving to be the best version of yourself.

You can accomplish your dreams, you just have to do your part.
