Tractor Wheelies!
How often do we go through our days on cruise control. Just doing enough to get by, not giving it our all, or just straight up being lazy? This week, I have been thinking of the results that come from giving it our all.
It is easy to sit back and not try too hard. Getting the things that must get done is a chore sometimes. The problem is when we fail to get back to kicking butt. Kicking back and not trying seems like the way to go sometimes. At work I have seen people who put out the minimum effort yet seem to stay employed and sometimes even move up in the company. We can’t sit by and hope that is us one day.
To truly succeed in all you do takes a lot of hard work, it takes consistency, it takes courage, and determination. I tell anyone I am working with in any capacity to give your all to everything you do. If anything is worth doing, it is worth doing correctly and to the best of your ability. The hard truth to deal with is, even giving everything you have, sometimes you will still fail. The good thing is, you know that you did everything you possibly could to succeed, so you don’t have to worry about having all the “What if I…” thoughts.
Proverbs 12: 24 NLT
“Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and become a slave”
Proverbs 12: 4 NLT
“Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.”
There are tons of verses with this same message in the bible. We are rewarded for working hard. We are punished for laziness. That is a biblical truth but also works in the secular world. If what you are doing is worth doing, do it right and the best way you possibly can. You will se fruits from your effort.
This week, take a hard look at how you show up. Are you giving it your all or simply coasting? If you find areas you can do better at, figure out some steps to get yourself running on all cylinders. You will be happy you did.
