Lost…
Have you ever been lost? Took a wrong turn? Made some questionable decisions? There are all types of being lost. We can be physically, emotionally, practically, and spiritually lost.
The physical way is what we typically think of when asked if we are lost. Technology has helped us tremendously in this aspect. Imagine going back to a paper map for a road trip. I know there are lots of people these days who have never held a physical paper map. I remember getting them at a state’s welcome center off the interstate when I was young.
Emotionally being lost is another common way of being lost. It’s pretty common to have a few bad things happen and no longer know how to feel. The same thing can happen when something good finally happens after lots of bad things; we typically don’t know how to handle it. We are doubtful of it being truly good.
Practically being lost is being lost while making decisions or because of our decisions. Sometimes we struggle to make decisions. We can second-guess each thought leading up to making a decision or even refuse to make one. This is probably the hardest way to feel lost because it can feel helpless, as if there is no way to get better. The feeling of inadequacy or stress can fill our minds and make us unable to see the truth that lies in front of us.
Being lost spiritually is where I have spent quite a large portion of my life. I have been anywhere from doing everything short of renouncing the existence of God to being on fire and wholly committed to Him. I used to feel inadequate, unworthy, and undeserving of anything Jesus could do for me. I spent years dancing on the edges and never having the boldness to step into the light He shines for all of us.
I spent a lot of my life being lost in many different ways. Every single time, I was to blame. Even when one could argue that it wasn’t my fault, deep down I know it was. Being on track is a choice. It is only up to me. I have the ability to make sure I am not lost; no one else has that power over me. You have that same ability. You can choose to be found.
“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”
Luke 19:10 NLT
