Rejuvenate…
It is no secret that I have been in a funk the last couple weeks. It is unfortunate that we must endure those times sometimes, but they are just part of life.
The word rejuvenate has been on my mind this week. Rejuvenate can be simply defined by the act of making things new again. There is a lot more ways to use the word but that is what I am focusing on. Making something new again brings life back into something.
Think of restoring and old car or some antique. It is always so neat seeing something that someone took the time to make something old and worn, possibly broken, new again. Doing so takes intentionality and dedication.
What if we apply that same work ethic to our hearts and minds. We are not limited by past failures and mistakes. We have the ability to renew ourselves whenever we want. It just takes us making a decision and following through.
I spent the past few weeks following in my own problems, struggles, and sadness. That is not healthy long term. Something this week woke me up and forced me back into doing the things I know helps me be a better man. Getting back to waking up early, trying to exercise, reading scripture, and attending my men’s group all put my mind in the mode of victory not defeat. It’s not magic or even complicated, it’s simply choosing to focus on the good while dealing with all the bad.
This week work on making yourself shiny and new again. Don’t put limits on yourself that are not there.
“Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— now let me rejoice. Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Then I will teach your ways to rebels, and they will return to you.”
Psalms 51:7-13 NLT
