Reset Button…

Wouldn’t a reset button be nice for our lives? When things aren’t going our way, push reset and start over. Unfortunately, there is no magic button, but we can reset our lives if we really want to.
A lot of people, me included, will stay stuck in a situation that makes them unhappy, no matter what it is. It can be something small or it can be something huge but there is something about the fear of change that keeps us trapped in our own lives. What would you do if I told you that you can hit the metaphorical reset button and make real changes? Would you do it?
That reset button I’m talking about is inside of each and every one of us. It is the sometimes small and underused section of our mind, a spirit that longs for greatness and more. It is the feeling in our gut that gets excited when new opportunities arise, before our minds get in the way by listing all the ways that they won’t work out. The reset button is 100% accessible to everyone, but it takes some resolve to make it work. It requires us to ignore our cognitive resolutions and focus on the one thing that is always constant, the feeling in our gut that doesn’t lead us astray.
I am speaking to myself on this one as well. As much as I talk on here about the past two years of my life where I have made a bunch of changes. I still hold on to some of the major things that keep me firmly planted at the bottom of the scale of my capability and purpose. I find it somewhat easy to step into something new, try new things, and even start new projects, but I have a hard time letting go of some of my big sticking points in my life. It makes it hard to hit that reset button and fully experience what God has for me in this world.
I am sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. There are plenty of people around me who are stuck worse than I am but that doesn’t mean I am doing great, it just means I have dipped my toes in the water of greatness. It means I’m not hot or cold, and Jesus has something to say on that subject.
15 “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! 16But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! Revelation 3 : 15-16 NLT
The way I see how that verse applies to me is that I either need to be in or out. I need to be 100% committed to whatever I am doing. No regrets or holding back. No backup plans, just fully commit to what I feel led to do in my gut.
That is the true reset button. Following God’s plan for you 100% will truly give us more purpose in our lives than we can ever achieve on our own. I am still a work in progress when it comes to this concept, but it has been on my heart for the past few weeks. I want to hit reset button and start to focus on what is truly important in my life and in my family. I encourage you to consider doing the same.
