The Fog…
Foggy Woods
It has been very foggy in the mornings down here in south Louisiana lately. The pattern got me thinking. We have darkness, the sun comes up and things are foggy, and it is hard to see, then after a while the light burns the fog off and it is clear again for the rest of the day.
In our lives we all go through dark times. It can be self inflicted, or out of our control. It can be malicious by someone or a completely random effect from someone else’s choice. The cause of the darkness doesn’t really matter as much as how we get out of it.
I picture the fog as when we see the light but we can’t quite see where we are headed fully. We may have an idea or a feeling about what we need to do, but we can’t tell for sure. In a car we put our headlights on, but mentally we must have to be very aware of our surroundings and actions. The fog can be scary, uncomfortable or it can be peaceful. It is entirely up to how we frame it in our own minds.
I choose to let the fog be a time to seek wisdom and clarity. It is a time when I realize I do not have all the answers, and I need to find someone who does. That someone could be a mentor, boss, friend, parent, or the big man upstairs. The only thing that matters is that you are seeking knowledge and that the knowledge is truth.
Let us embrace the fog! Let it be a time of growth and learning. Don’t fear the fog, just know that when it lifts, you will be better on the other side if you seek wisdom and clarity.
